LOTS of oil companies use GIS - check jobs for geologic technicians, GIS techs and data management. Check all the oil company (Shell, Exxon, Marathon, Bp, BHP websites for openings...also maybe Monster.com. There are also GIS programs that give you a college degree. Remember that many cities, and utility companies use GIS for data management too.
